The 2018 Great Salmon Send-Off
This 28th annual Great Salmon Send-Off will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 10 am to 2 pm, at Stoney Creek Community School.
For the information of any of you who are new to this event, it is a nonprofit community event to celebrate and enhance awareness of our environment and in particular the Stoney Creek Watershed. The highlight is the release of several thousand salmon smolts or fry into the creek, (a special experience for the kids), but we also enjoy the participation of many local and government organizations who bring displays to demonstrate their contributions to our environment. The event has become a day of enthusiastic family participation, support and entertainment and we enjoy large turnouts from members of the surrounding communities.
We hope that your organization will be able to join us on May 12 this year with a display to show highlights of what you do. We encourage exhibits with an environmental theme that include demonstrations, games or activities which will promote interactions with families at the event. We can provide tents for exhibitors, but due to a cut in our funding this year, if you are able to bring your own tent, this will be very helpful. Of course we can certainly provide tables and chairs and some tents and we will try to accommodate any other needs that you might have.
Please let me know if your organization will be able to participate in our event this year and I will send you further information and a brief questionnaire to find out what you will require from us for your exhibit. For those of you who have already confirmed that you are coming and given me your ‘needs’ list, I have recorded your information, so no need to get back to me again unless you would like to.
