Burnaby Environment Week Celebrations

Saturday, May 27. Environment Festival at City Hall, in conjunction with the Burnaby Farmers Market. Environmental exhibits, electric cars, electro-recycle drop-off, food trucks, prize draws, activities for kids, and live music.

Saturday, May 27. City Wide Garage Sale. Listings will be available online and in local newspapers.

Sunday, May 28. Tour of Lower Still Creek Watershed by Bicycle (registration required). Cycle the Central Valley Greenway between Renfrew and Sperling Skytrain stations and learn about Still Creek.

Sunday, May 28. Burnaby Lake Park Association Weedbusters Event.

Sunday, May 28. Mandarin Language Nature Tour, Burnaby Mountain Conversation Area.

Monday, May 29. Environmental Awards Presentation, Regular City Council Meeting.

Monday, May 29 (to June 4). Bike to Work Week begins. Register 1 commute trip to be entered into a prize draw for an 8 day cycling vacation in Croatia and for the new bike per day prize draws.

Tuesday, May 30. Free guided canoe trips on Deer Lake (registration required, spots are going fast).

Thursday, June 1. Bike Day in Canada, presented by HUB Burnaby. Family friendly bicycle ride departing from City Hall, 4:45pm (approximately). Prize draws and refreshments to follow.

Sunday, June 4 (to June 10). Commuter Challenge begins. Prizes available for recording commutes by transit, active transportation and tele-commuting.

Tuesday, June 6. Free guided canoe trips on Deer Lake (registration required, spots are going fast).

Wednesday, June 7. Burnaby Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services, Eco-Sculpture Planting in the outer courtyard at City Hall (11:30am to 1:30pm)

Saturday, June 10. Wild About Burnaby Lake stewardship event. Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Metro Vancouver Parks. Free voyageur canoe trips (registration required), guided nature tours, environmental exhibits, free BBQ hotdogs, and live music.

Saturday, June 10. Burnaby Eco-Centre Open House.

Saturday, June 10. Car Trunk Sale, Environment Week Edition, at Bill Copeland Sports Centre.

Sunday, June 11. Guided tour of Burnaby’s Great Blue Heron Colony (registration required)
