Grand Villa Casino’s continuous efforts in achieving exceptional feats includes taking care of the environment. Reducing our greenhouse gas emissions as well as our carbon footprint will allow us to set a good example and continue to provide excellent service for many more years to come.

We are constantly working on updating the building’s HVAC system units with high efficiency equipment to reduce natural gas use on site. We recently purchased renewable natural gas, making us the first casino in the world to utilize this alternative fuel source. Currently, we are successfully reclaiming wasted heat energy from exhaust and redirecting it to service our domestic hot water. In addition, we’ve reduced HVAC activity during off-peak time hours by installing variable speed drives.

We also have been conducting numerous lighting projects to help reduce our electricity consumption. All our exterior lights are using LED technology for nighttime use only. As of date, we have saved over 300,000 kWh/year of energy.

Our fuel saving feats were recently recognized by the City of Burnaby’s 2014 Environmental Awards Program when Gateway Casinos was acknowledged in the Business Stewardship Category for the energy efficient projects conducted at Grand Villa Casino. Our award-winning enterprises fills us with pride, and motivates us to continue implementing new ways to reduce our environmental impact.
