Chandos is 100% employee owned and are proud to be the first and largest B Corp certified commercial builder on the continent, meaning we put our values at the centre of everything we do. We continuously innovate by championing collaborative construction – leading to more efficiency, cost savings and a much better working experience for everyone.
But what exactly does is mean to be B Corp certified? And what value does it bring to our business and the communities we serve?
look at the definition of a B Corp certified company: it is one that’s
committed to and continually meets rigorous standards of social and
environmental accountability, public transparency and legal responsibility. ‘B
Corp’ is the only certification that measures a company’s entire performance
and evaluates how its operations, business model and profits affect all
touchpoints – employees, the environment, customers and the community.
Our role in the community, in fact, is something that we are very conscious of. Many of our projects follow a benefit plan which ensures that a portion of the investment is put back into the community. This can be in the form of providing employment opportunities to local people; expanding diversity in local businesses; reducing poverty; utilizing first source hiring; eliminating social isolation and incorporating local purchasing. Furthermore, this also helps us secure work, offer skills training and provide fair wages to those underrepresented in skilled trades.
that, we are proud supporters of non-profit organizations such as United Way
and partner with them on several local and national initiatives year-round.
We’ve been advocates for the organization for 20 years and have raised more
than $2,000,000. During our campaigns, we aim to provide
support, raise funds and bring attention to important issues affecting the
communities where we live and work.
So, being a B Corp certified company is one of the ways we uphold the high standards that our founders built the organization on. And this is what drives us.
