BBOT Supports Youth Enviro Lab Changemakers
Youth engagement in civic life is key to helping to solve some of the most pressing social and environmental problems that city’s face. As a steering committee member of CityHive’s Enviro Lab, the Burnaby Board of Trade helps to support the work of 18 to 30 year old changemakers.
Congratulations to this year’s cohort who presented unique and innovative solutions to food, construction and plastic waste.

The Envirolab is a series of thematic labs that engage youth from a variety of backgrounds—cultural, academic, professional and lived experiences—to dive deep into pressing urban sustainability challenges and create projects that address them. Using human-centred design thinking, the labs are facilitated in a process that empowers participants to identify current opportunity gaps alongside local governments and community organizations. The Envirolab helps to place youth at the intersection of learning, relationship building, and solutions design.
